Archiving & Digital Preservation Policy

Interdisciplinary Journal of Education (IJE)

The Interdisciplinary Journal of Education (IJE) is committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity, and continuity of its published scholarly content.

The journal seeks to ensure that published articles and associated scholarly records remain accessible over time, including in the event of technical failure, platform migration, organizational change, or discontinuation of journal publication.

Preservation Principle
IJE maintains its scholarly record through journal-platform storage, metadata management, operational backup procedures, persistent identifiers, repository self-archiving, and additional preservation services when such services are formally activated and verifiable.

1. Scope of Preservation

The journal's preservation arrangements are intended to cover, where applicable:

  • published article files;
  • journal issues and tables of contents;
  • article titles, abstracts, keywords, and bibliographic metadata;
  • author and affiliation metadata;
  • DOI-related metadata;
  • supplementary files and supporting materials where applicable;
  • corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other post-publication notices; and
  • other records necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

2. Open Journal Systems Infrastructure

IJE is managed and published using Open Journal Systems (OJS). The platform supports the journal's editorial workflow, article publication, issue management, metadata management, and online dissemination.

Published journal content and associated metadata are maintained within the journal's publishing infrastructure to support continued accessibility and management of the scholarly record.

3. Backup and Recovery

The publisher maintains operational backup and recovery procedures for journal content and relevant publication data to reduce the risk of permanent data loss.

Backup procedures are intended to support restoration following technical failure, data corruption, server disruption, or other incidents affecting access to the journal platform.

Backup and recovery are treated as part of the journal's business continuity and preservation arrangements.

4. Persistent Identification and Metadata

IJE assigns persistent identifiers to published scholarly content where applicable, including Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Persistent identifiers and structured bibliographic metadata are used to support stable citation, discovery, linking, indexing, and long-term identification of published content.

The journal seeks to maintain consistency between article metadata, DOI records, article landing pages, and published Version of Record files.

5. Preservation of the Version of Record

The final article published on the official IJE website and identified by its DOI constitutes the journal's Version of Record.

The journal is committed to preserving this version and maintaining transparent links between the original publication and any subsequent correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other formal post-publication notice.

Substantive post-publication changes should not be made silently. Formal notices should be used where necessary to preserve the integrity and transparency of the scholarly record.

6. Repository and Author Self-Archiving

Authors may archive the published Version of Record of their IJE articles in legitimate scholarly repositories, subject to the article's applicable license.

Permitted locations may include:

  • institutional repositories;
  • disciplinary or subject repositories;
  • personal academic websites;
  • institutional research-information systems; and
  • other legitimate scholarly archives.

Deposited copies should include the full bibliographic citation and DOI or permanent link to the original IJE publication.

7. Distributed Digital Preservation

IJE supports participation in established digital-preservation services compatible with Open Journal Systems when such participation has been formally activated by the journal or publisher.

Transparency Requirement
IJE will identify specific preservation services such as PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico, or another external archive only when participation is active, current, and verifiable.

The journal does not represent itself as participating in a preservation network solely because the technology is compatible with OJS.

8. Journal Migration and Platform Continuity

If the journal migrates to a new hosting environment, publishing platform, domain, or technical infrastructure, reasonable measures should be taken to preserve:

  • published article files;
  • issue structure;
  • metadata;
  • DOI links;
  • article URLs where technically feasible; and
  • relationships between articles and post-publication notices.

Redirects or equivalent continuity measures should be used where practical to minimize broken links and preserve discoverability.

9. Journal Cessation

If IJE ceases publication, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to preserve previously published scholarly content and maintain public access through available preservation infrastructure, repositories, archived copies, or other established scholarly preservation arrangements.

Cessation of new publication should not, by itself, result in the disappearance of previously published scholarly content.

10. Preservation of Corrections and Retractions

Corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and related editorial notices form part of the permanent scholarly record.

Such notices should remain accessible and should be linked clearly to the affected Version of Record wherever technically possible.

Retracted content should not normally be removed solely because it has been retracted. Instead, its status should be made clear through appropriate editorial labeling and linked notices, except where removal is required for compelling legal, privacy, or safety reasons.

11. Responsibility for Preservation

Responsibility for maintaining the journal's preservation and archiving arrangements rests with the publisher and journal management.

Sumber Belajar Sejahtera, as the publisher of IJE, supports the maintenance of journal infrastructure, publication records, and reasonable continuity measures required to preserve the scholarly record.

Archiving Policy Summary
IJE combines platform-based content management, operational backup, persistent identifiers, metadata preservation, repository self-archiving, Version of Record management, and additional distributed preservation services when formally activated. The journal avoids making unsupported preservation claims and seeks to keep its published scholarly record accessible over the long term.
